Genèse:

Résumé: Bailey Howard, a young author and Cooper Fitzgerald, his gay flatmate discover a miniature door in their New York apartment. Upon entering, they find themselves in the land of Taravatania, where an evil enchantress has turned the King and Queen into goldfish. A prophecy foretells that one day Taravatania will be restored to normal by the coming of “a hero and a great queen”. Before Bailey and Cooper can fulfil this role, they have to contend with a series of characters who have “crossed-over” from the real world. They meet a pregnant princess and her power-mad twin sisters (all played by the same actress), a washed-up TV soap star, a Prince and a showman (all played by the same actor) and a troupe of strolling players whose star attraction, Miranda, is a singing disembodied head.

Commentaires : This new version, with several new songs, was staged in the smaller Trafalgar Studio. In spite of the veteran Ellen Greene (the original Audrey in “Little Shop of Horrors”) and Peter Duncan (of “Bamum” and “Blue Peter” fame) it was generally felt to be a self-indulgent piece of whimsy by Ian McFarlane, who wrote the music, lyrics and book as well as directing the show. The run was extended by three weeks, though Ellen Green left the cast on the originally announced closing date.
